Kalojam
Kalojam is a darker, richer cousin of gulab jamun with deep roots in Bengali mishti culture. The dough is made from khoya (reduced milk solids) and a touch of flour, shaped into oval pieces, and deep-fried at low heat until they develop a deep mahogany crust with a natural caramel flavour. They are then soaked overnight in a lightly spiced sugar syrup so the sweetness reaches the core while the outside stays slightly firm. At Noni Sweets, we use full-cream cow's milk reduced in-house for the khoya, never powdered milk. Each batch is fried in small quantities to ensure even colour and texture. Kalojam is a staple at Bengali weddings, Eid celebrations, and sweet boxes across Dhaka. Delivered fresh to Gulshan and Banani.
