Noni Sweets
Cube-shaped motichur borfi Bengali sweet with orange and white layers, Noni Sweets Dhaka

Motichur Borfi

Motichur borfi traces its origins to the Mughal-era kitchens of the Indian subcontinent, where fine gram flour boondi was first combined with ghee and sugar to create layered sweets. At Noni Sweets, the process starts with making tiny, pearl-like boondi drops from besan batter fried in pure ghee. These are drained, soaked briefly in sugar syrup, and pressed into a firm base layer. A creamy milk-based layer is set on top, and the whole block is cut into precise cubes. The two-toned appearance, orange motichur below and ivory cream above, is the hallmark of quality. Each piece is topped with a saffron dot. We use no artificial colours; the orange comes naturally from slow frying. A festive favourite during Durga Puja, Eid, and Diwali celebrations across Dhaka. Fresh daily from Noni Sweets, delivered to Gulshan and Banani.
