Porabari Chomchom
Porabari chomchom is a regional speciality from Porabari in Tangail, Bangladesh, a town legendary for its chomchom-making tradition going back over a hundred years. What sets it apart from regular chomchom is the caramelisation: after the chhana ovals are boiled in syrup, they are cooked further until the surface develops a deep golden-brown crust with a distinct smoky, nutty flavour. The pieces are then generously coated in crumbled khoya (dried milk solids), which adds a second layer of richness. The contrast between the crunchy, caramelised exterior and the soft, syrup-soaked interior is what makes porabari chomchom unforgettable. At Noni Sweets, we follow the traditional Tangail method: slow caramelisation over wood-fire-equivalent low heat, hand-crumbled khoya coating, and no artificial colour or flavour. This is a rare sweet even in Dhaka, not commonly found in mainstream sweet shops. Handmade at Noni Sweets, delivered fresh to Gulshan and Banani, Dhaka.
